Targeted soil remediation through HRSC

When a remediation contractor has only a vague idea of where contamination is located, an efficient approach is nearly impossible. That was the case for this project, where volatile organic chlorinated hydrocarbons (VOCs) were detected, but their precise vertical distribution remained unclear.

From rough indication to precise insight

The initial survey provided only a general picture of the contamination. That’s why EnISSA carried out a high-resolution site characterisation (HRSC) using MIP-GC/MS measurements.

This technique makes it possible to create highly detailed vertical profiles of VOC concentrations in both soil layers and groundwater. As a result, we were able to determine exactly at which depths substances such as perchloroethylene, trichloroethylene, cis-1,2-dichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride were present.

More efficient injections, faster results

Armed with this precise data, the contractor was able to perform depth-specific injections. This led to faster execution, reduced uncertainty about the final outcome, and lower use of injection materials.

The result? A targeted and sustainable remediation strategy, fewer uncertainties, and a clear roadmap for redeveloping the site into a future residential area.

Our added value

We combine advanced measurement techniques with clear visual representation of the results. This means:

• Less guesswork, more certainty.
• Perfect alignment between data and remediation design.
• Faster implementation with lasting results.

In this way, we help our clients save time, resources, and reduce risks, while preparing their remediation projects for the future.
